Five Services, One Engineered Result

Equipment. Programs. Paperwork. A heat pump project touches all three, and each one affects the others. The rebate depends on the equipment. The loan depends on the proposal. The comfort depends on the sizing. These five services cover the full chain.

Four Steps, In the Right Order

  1. Phone conversation

Current fuel, utility, the rooms that run hot or cold, and your goals. We note which programs could apply and whether a Home Energy Assessment still needs to happen. A few questions now save rework later.

  2. Measurement visit

Rooms, windows, wall and attic insulation, existing equipment, electrical service. Each number feeds the heat-loss calculation. The design comes from that math, not from the size of the old boiler.

  3. Written proposal and financing

Equipment by room, price, rebate estimate and HEAT Loan amount, all on paper. If you choose the loan, the application with a participating lender begins here, before any equipment is ordered.

  4. Install, commission, file

Mounting, piping, wiring. The old system dealt with per the proposal. Next: testing, a controls lesson, and the rebate plus loan forms finished together.

Why the Method Matters

A heat pump that is the wrong size will short-cycle, struggle on cold nights or both. Paperwork done out of order can delay a rebate or a loan. We work to avoid both problems from the first call.

  • Room-by-room sizing

Every room gets its own heat-loss figure. Capacity is matched to those numbers, so the system runs long, steady cycles instead of switching on and off. Quieter. More even. Easier on the equipment.

  • Program paperwork handled

Mass Save rebate forms, the HEAT Loan proposal and authorization form, and the documents participating lenders typically ask for. Prepared with you, checked before they go out, followed through to the end.

  • Tidy, careful installation

Floors covered. Line sets routed cleanly, inside walls where possible. Penetrations sealed. At the end, a full walkthrough so the system is not a mystery on the first cold night.

Woburn and the Towns Around It

Woburn sits where I-93 meets Route 128/I-95, and its housing reflects a long history: older colonials and capes on the streets near Horn Pond, two-families closer to the center, and newer homes toward the Burlington and Wilmington lines. Heat comes from everywhere: oil tanks in basements, gas boilers, a fair share of electric baseboard. We work across Woburn and the Middlesex County towns that border it, from Winchester and Stoneham to Lexington, Medford and Arlington, plus Billerica to the north. One program note: Wakefield and Reading buy electricity from municipal light plants with their own heat pump rebates, so homes there follow different rules, and we sort that out by address.

Different houses, different loads

A 1920s colonial with no wall insulation and a 1990s cape with blown-in attic insulation can need very different capacity. We measure instead of assuming.

Two-families get unit-level designs

Separate systems or zones per unit. Owner-occupants and landlords both get a layout that keeps each household in control.

Heat Pump and Financing Questions, Answered

Direct answers. No sales pitch.

Whole-home or partial-home: what separates the two?

A whole-home system is designed to be the main heat for the entire house; a partial-home system covers some zones while other heat carries the rest. The Mass Save rebate is larger for whole-home systems, which also come with requirements such as weatherization per a Home Energy Assessment. Partial-home systems qualify for smaller amounts and require the old system to be removed, disconnected or controlled in the displaced zone.

How does the HEAT Loan's 0% financing actually work?

It is a Mass Save program: 0% interest, borrowing up to $25,000, with the loan itself coming from a participating bank or credit union. Prerequisites, in order: your utility account (it must be a Mass Save utility); our proposal; the signed authorization form; the lender's yes; after installation, an inspection closes it out. We prepare the proposal and form; the lender makes the approval decision and sets the terms.

Will the same system keep the house cool in summer?

Yes. A heat pump reverses direction in warm weather and removes heat from the house, just like an air conditioner. Ducted systems cool through the existing vents, and ductless heads cool the rooms they serve. One system, both seasons.

Can a heat pump really handle a Massachusetts January?

A properly sized cold-climate heat pump keeps heating well below freezing. The key word is sized: we calculate each room's heat loss and pick equipment rated for deep cold. Want margin anyway? Keep the existing boiler or furnace in reserve, wired to integrated controls.

How much can the Mass Save heat pump rebate be in 2026?

Up to $8,500 for a whole-home system in 2026, paid per ton of installed capacity. Three gates apply: weatherization to the level your Home Energy Assessment recommends, cold-climate equipment that qualifies, and occupants living there all winter. Systems covering part of the house get less.

Is a heat pump able to replace central air conditioning?

It can. A ducted heat pump connects to existing ductwork and cools the way central air does, then heats in winter as well. We check duct size and condition first, since undersized or leaky ducts limit what any system can deliver.

Do heat pumps work in two-families and triple-deckers?

Very well. Every unit may have dedicated outdoor equipment or separate zones, each with independent controls, so households manage their comfort independently. Landlords of two- to four-unit homes can also explore the rebate and HEAT Loan, subject to the program rules.

What coverage comes with an installation?

Equipment carries the manufacturer's coverage, and coverage on the installation itself is spelled out in the written proposal. We go through the terms on the call so you know what is included before you sign.

Engineering First, Then Equipment

HVAC Financing Woburn approaches every house the same way: measure it, calculate it, then design for it. The financing side gets the same discipline. Rebate estimates come with their conditions, the HEAT Loan steps happen in sequence and nothing is ordered until the numbers are on paper and you have agreed to them.
